MIDAS are lake identification numbers, many of which were historically assigned to lakes in the 1960s by the State Planning Office. MIDAS numbers with this data are used to organize, track, and visually identify lake polygon features for Maine. (Note: the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife now uses the term \u2018Watcode\u2019 instead of MIDAS.)
